MySexySaturday - INDEPENDENCE DAY

October 31, 2015:

For this week’s edition of MySexySaturday http://mysexysaturday.blogspot.ca/ I have seven paragraphs from Independence Day—an erotic contemporary m/m romance in which Nick Gregorio tries to figure out if he should return to the past and Al, his former lover? Or should he keep moving forward and embrace whatever the future may hold?

INDEPENDENCE DAY

The perfect plan for success, or a guaranteed recipe for disaster?

It sounded like such a simple, mutually beneficial arrangement when the idea was hatched over drinks in a bar late one night. A little short-term pain for long-term gain, or so Nick’s ambitious boyfriend, Al, believed. If Nick would take a back seat while Al played the doting husband to Missy, daughter of the town’s leading lawyer for a couple of months, Al’s lifelong dream of a partnership with Hilldale & Partners would finally be achieved. In return, Missy would be out from under her daddy’s thumb, free to follow her own alternative lifestyle. And then, after a short interval, Nick and Al could pick up where they left off, and everyone would live happily ever after.

As far as spur-of-the-moment plans went, this one sounded perfect.

What could possibly go wrong?

Don't miss the sequel, Independence Day II.

Excerpt:
Nick felt his face redden with embarrassment at the mind picture Al painted. “Don’t be ridiculous. Trip isn’t gay. He’s a widower with a young son. We’re casual friends and nothing more.”

Al gave Nick a narrow-eyed look. “You quite sure about that?”

“Sure about what?”

“All of it. Widower with a young son makes for perfect cover if you’re trying to present a nice family-man public image.”

Nick took another sip of beer, wondering if, just for once, he should let his temper rip and tell Al to take his insecurities and fuck off home to his wife, his precious job and his socially important lifestyle. “Trip doesn’t deal with the public. He’s director of personnel for the hotel’s food and beverage division. In other words, he works strictly behind the scenes.”

Al reached in the bag for another chip. “If there was no one else, why did you really leave?”

“Because…” Nick sighed. He’d rehearsed what he wanted to say a thousand times. He’d even thought about writing Al a long letter spelling it all out in infinite detail—how he was sick of being what amounted to an afterthought, to constantly taking a back seat. Except he’d realized there was no point.

MySexySaturday - CHANCE ENCOUNTER

October 24, 2015:

For this week’s edition of MySexySaturday http://mysexysaturday.blogspot.ca/ I have seven paragraphs from CHANCE ENCOUNTER—an erotic m/m contemporary romance.

CHANCE ENCOUNTER
by Christiane France

Blurb:

In high school and through their first year of college, Jase Thoman and Matt Lester were best friends and lovers. But then Matt’s family moved across country, Matt transferred to another school, and the pair eventually drifted apart.

Now, ten years later, they meet again by chance. Jase is a private investigator, desperate to find his kid brother, Donny, who, in addition to two other teenage boys, has mysteriously disappeared after last being seen at a local gay bar. Matt is an undercover police officer brought in on the case by the local police department in the hope he can succeed where they have so far failed.

Matt is the only man Jase has ever really loved, but ten years is a long time. They’re not the same people they once were, and when Matt tries to pick up where they left off, Jase takes a step back. His first priority is finding his brother. As far as Matt is concerned, Jase feels how he imagines a deer would feel when caught in the headlights of a vehicle with little or no chance of escape—confused, unsure, and at the same time, positive whatever he does will be the wrong thing.

Can Matt help Jase solve the mystery of his brother’s whereabouts, while also convincing him to give their relationship a fresh start?
^^^

Jase narrowed his eyes and looked the dude over more carefully. The lighting in the club was lousy, but somewhere between the glitter, the cheap glamour and false eyelashes, one of which was rapidly becoming unglued, there was something vaguely familiar about the guy. He searched his memory and came up dry. “Sorry, man, I think you must be mistaking me for someone else.”

The man gave a soft, sexy chuckle, raising hairs on places Jase had always thought were hairless. He flipped through his memory banks for a second time. He still didn’t recognize the face, but he knew he’d heard that chuckle somewhere before. Where or when, he couldn’t remember…but something about it reminded him of his college days and March break—cheap motel rooms, heavy breathing, sweat-soaked sheets, and the overpowering smells of stale beer and sex.

“S’okay, Jase. It’s been one helluva long time,” the guy said quietly. “And I know I have you at a disadvantage in this getup. But you were looking me over pretty good, so I figured I should say something fast in case you recognized me and blew my cover.”

“Sorry, man. Like I said, I think you’re—” Before Jase could finish what he was about to say, he realized the guy had used his name. Then, something clicked in his brain and the memories came flooding back…along with a rush of pure sexual need he hadn’t felt in a very long time. “You’re— Oh, my God, it’s— But it can’t be. You’re—”

Matt Lester in the flesh?

Jase stared at the guy standing beside him in shock. He and Matt Lester had been lovers, best friends, and roommates through the last couple of years of high school and the first year of college. Then Matt’s family had moved to the west coast, and a scholarship had caused Matt to transfer to another school. They’d kept in touch for a while and still exchanged cards at Christmas, but between distance and everyday life, they hadn’t seen one another in years. Jase wanted to ask if Matt was back living here in town, or if he was just passing through. However, before Jase could say his name out loud, Matt had him in the kind of lip-lock Jase couldn’t have broken even on a good day.

He let his body go limp and waited for the one guy he’d never thought to see again do the same. At least the idiot wasn’t using force. No tongue, just a firm hold and the pressure of his mouth to keep Jase quiet. Jase felt the rasp of five o’clock shadow against his own freshly shaved skin. He was also conscious of the faint smell of stale, sweaty clothes, and he wondered if living on the street was also part of Matt’s cover. With anyone else, it would have been a total turn-off, but with Matt it was working on Jase like the most expensive aphrodisiac. He was up, he was hard, and he knew with just a little mouth-action on Matt’s part, they’d once again be flying to the moon.

IWSG Blog Hop - October 7, 2015

October 7, 2015

Continuity:

I have several series in progress that readers seems to enjoy. Amethyst Cove is set on the coast of California and stars a former police officer turned private investigator. Another involves the residents of Peninsula Heights, a small town near Niagara Falls, and the third, Hennessey Falls, features a restaurant chain.

In each one, the same as with any series, continuity is the key word. This means the physical descriptions and other important details that were set up in book one, both for the characters and the location, are important and must remain the same throughout any future adventures.

To keep the continuity going and also to save myself the trouble of referring back to earlier stories, I find it helps to keep these details in the form of a map for the location and as a personal profile for each character. For the major characters I also include a couple of other items which I update as the series progresses—What does this character want? How does he/she plan to get it? And what progress has he/she made to this point? Questions that come in very handy whenever you write yourself into a corner and begin to wonder: Where do we go from here?

MySexySaturday - JUST ONE LOOK

October 3, 2015:

For this week’s edition of MySexySaturday http://mysexysaturday.blogspot.ca/ I have seven paragraphs from JUST ONE LOOK—an erotic m/f contemporary.

JUST ONE LOOK
by Christiane France

Blurb:

Toni Peters rarely takes chances or tries new things, always sticking close to home and going along with the tried and the true—until her old schoolfriend, Jane Doyle, who is currently working at a hotel in Paris, France, calls and suggests they take a month-long tour of Europe, the vacation they’ve always talked about but never got around to.

When Toni arrives in Paris, she discovers Jane quit her job and moved south to another hotel in Marseille. Toni goes to Marseille and checks all the hotels, but to no avail. Jane seems to have disappeared off the planet—that is until Toni receives an unsigned note telling her to be at Les Arbres in Cassis at noon  the next day. Figuring the note is from Jane, Toni takes the bus to Cassis, but instead of finding Jane at Les Arbres she finds British cop, Neil Trenton.

^^^

Neil held her gaze for a moment—a very long moment filled with something hot and unexpectedly sexual, a moment that made her feel so dizzy with longing she forgot to breathe. As he looked away, she sucked in a breath. But then he stretched, flexing his muscles like a big cat. She glanced at the bump at the juncture of his thighs and felt a rush of dampness in her crotch. She imagined herself straddling that bump, sliding down the zipper on his jeans and—
He suddenly looked up at her through half-closed eyes, a faint smile playing over his full lips, and she wondered if he’d read her mind. She felt a sudden thrill of anticipation, knowing for absolute sure he’d read her mind—from cover to cover, because something about that smile was just a little too knowing.

“You didn’t interrupt a thing. Nothing that can’t wait that is.”

“Oh, sure. Bet you say that to all the girls,” she said, trying to rid her mind of the x-rated thoughts and wondering why she felt so hot and strangely off-balance. Maybe she was sickening for something. Maybe the sausage in the sandwich she had for lunch yesterday had been past its sell by date.

“To be honest, I rarely have time for the fair sex. Between recent budget cuts which have resulted in me having to do more than just my own job, I have neither the time nor the energy. And no, I’m not married. Never have been, and I have no immediate plans in that direction.”

Toni frowned. “Why would I care whether or not you’re married?”

His smile broadened. “Because I think I have the same effect on you as you do on me. I can see it on your face, and in your body language.”
